One year after the Eaton Fire, the rebuilding process looks different for Altadena residents.

Some residents are waiting for a permit. Some stopped the process to take time to destress. Some began the rebuilding process while others are close to moving home.
According to the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute and UCLA Center for Neighborhood Knowledge study, about six in 10 Black-owned homes sustained severe fire damage compared to white, Latino or Asian-owned homes. Seven in 10 homeowners with severely fire-damaged homes remain in a holding pattern.
